Travelin’ Tarah

I am honestly disappointed with myself that I did not have one post for the month of March!  One of the goals I had for 2012 was to have a post at least 4 times each month.
I do have a great excuse though!  After next week is over I will be able to say that I have traveled to Los Angeles, New York City, Charleston and San Francisco in 7 weeks!  I also attended a life changing 4 day women’s retreat with our church in New Braunfels.  Another three day weekend I had my favorite business training of the year in San Marcos,TX. This event has catapulted our organization and God is doing wonders in all of our lives!

Am I Crazy?… yes!  Blessed to have the opportunity to do this kind of travel?…A HUGE YES!!!

During this short amount of time I have also attended two baby showers and four of our other friends have had babies! To the Marion’s.. I apologize with all of my heart that I haven’t met your beautiful triplets yet, our precious little Lauren Miller… I can’t wait to meet little Tucker, and Beautiful Erica Casas.. Carter is absolutely perfect! I hope each one of you know what important women you are to me and I can’t wait to meet your bundle of joys!!!! Audra and Jeff.. glad I did get to meet sweet Alivia and change that dirty diaper for you πŸ™‚ I will continue to pray for wisdom, peace and sleep in each one of your lives πŸ™‚

Quite a few people have also been asking me about the adoption process this past month. It is going… but slowly. Before I started doing all of the travel I was on a mission of getting things done as quickly as possible to keep the process at a fast pace. That quickly stopped with the massive amount of time being away from home and the news I got a few weeks ago via email. While I was in NYC there was a conference call for the Ethiopia program. I did put a reminder in my phone, but completely forgot πŸ™  A few hours later I got an email that was an overview of the call. Not good news. The program is experiencing some slowdowns because of the African Embassy. This is something that no one can control. Our wait time has now increased to 2- 2/12 years for our son.  Needless to say, I was not in a super mood the rest of that day in New York and was extremely frustrated and upset. What does this mean for us? We haven’t even finished all of the paperwork to even get on that list for the 2- 2 1/2 year wait time!! My husband and I are unsure of what our next step will be as far as deciding if we want a child sooner than that, but we are still pursuing our adoption from Africa. It may take us 4 years, but we will not give up!!

And the MOST exciting news in the past two months is that we bought land this past weekend!! Yes, my husband and I officially own over an acre of Texas soil πŸ™‚ GOD IS SO GOOD! We were considering some different options since my mom is getting worse by the month, but this was unexpected so soon! We came across a deal and couldn’t pass it up. Our land backs up to a 13 acre park that will have nature trails, children’s play set, basketball courts, etc. and we are a 2 minute drive from our neighborhoods private access to the Guadalupe River. WOW! I am still pinching myself. πŸ™‚ No real timeline set as to when we will start building our home, but we are praying for 2013.

2012 is turning out to be one of the most amazing years of our marriage thus far and only fitting for our 5th year as husband and wife. πŸ™‚  We haven’t gone without some struggles of course, but those struggles are preparing us for what God has in store for our lives in the future.  I am so very thankful to not only the Lord who makes ALL things possible, but also for our business. Living life on your own terms and doing what you want to do, when you want to do it, with enough resources to do it, is why I do what I do with USANA. Watching our team mates grow into successful leaders of not only their peers, but in their homes as well is so very precious.  Seeing peoples massive health transformations are just icing on the cake!  Now that Dr. Oz has officially partnered with our company, the future is getting brighter by the day. πŸ™‚
The day that I signed up into the business of network marketing it didn’t have on the dotted line… “you will get more out of others success, than your own!!” What a Blessing!  I am so grateful that 6 years ago my husband didn’t listen to what everyone else thought about our industry and started building our legacy.

I pray this post finds all of my readers well, and I am going to attempt to do more posts with pictures on each one of my trips. LA is actually already written, but I never posted it πŸ™‚
Have a very Blessed week,

RESET for 2012

I am usually not one for New Years Resoultions, but I am commiting to start off this year with a few less lbs. After two months of fertility meds, eating our way through New Orleans and mass quantities of Holiday goodness…the time is now!

Ever since I tried the RESET program over 5 years ago I have been a HUGE advocate. I do the 5 day program 3-4 times each year and absolutely love it. Don’t get me wrong it’s great and VERY effective, but it is not easy to over come your food cravings! The system has you drink 3 delicious shakes a day (the chocolate rules), eat 2 snack bars, and a cup of fruit and veggies for snacks. With 30 minutes of walking a day and drinking plenty of water you will watch the pounds melt away!  5 pounds in 5 days is guaranteed if you successfully complete it. :).  My average is 6# each time.  There is also a program to continue the weight loss (transform) in which you do 2 shakes/day. My father in law lost 30# in the month after his initial RESET program.
Let me be clear though…this is NOT a diet!! It is a lifestyle change to help you make better food choices. My favorite part about RESET actually isn’t the weight loss, it is the loss of cravings!! After you finish the 5 days you miraculously want to make better food choices and that ice cream in the freezer ( my major weakness) no longer sounds like a good idea! It seems strange unless you have tried it, but its incredible!! Our company has a 100% money back guarantee and all of our products are pharmaceutical grade so you can trust what you are putting in your body. Our company’s tag line is “Nutritionals you can trust.”. That is a very bold statement for a 20 year old publicly traded company!

I am halfway through my first day of RESET and look forward to some great results this week!! Who wants to join me?? Below is a link of a short video for more details and contact me if your interested!

Learning to knit

Isn’t my scarf amazing!  Ha!  This little “bib” as I like to call it, has taken two days to create.  For any of you that may knit, I’m sure you understand.  Knitting is not an easy task!!  I now have a new found love and respect for any items that are hand knit.  It is extremely tedious and you have to be very patient. I even had a tendon in my left arm that was sore the next day!  Hilarious, but true.

I have always wanted to pick up this little craft, but never found the time or anyone willing to teach me!  That’s the beauty of what our business has to offer, I have the time to learn new things whenever I want and friends that have the same time freedom!  Now don’t get me wrong, I did do some work today with our business.  I went with my husband to dinner where we presented to one of our associate’s friends.  Not gonna lie, not a bad day at the office πŸ™‚

I have to thank my beautiful friend Rosie for patiently teaching me Tuesday and coming back to fix my mistakes this afternoon!  I am now confident that I can mess up and know how to fix it on my own πŸ™‚  We shall see…..

I fell in love with the man, then the business

This past weekend I attended a baby shower of one of my high school girlfriends.  And like most parties or get togethers the “What do you do?” conversation started.  Now, after 5 years of having our business I am not ashamed to say we own a Network Marketing business, but that has not always been the case.
When I graduated college my thoughts were I would have my “big girl job”, have a husband that also had a corporate job and when it was time to have babies I would be a stay at home mom.  I know, I know… I have never had a HUGE ambition to work up the corporate ladder, I just wanted to be a mom.  I knew I would use my degree, but I have a serious love of arts and crafts and I envisioned a business or way where I could craft and make a living from home and do what I really loved, not work for someone else.
As with most of life, it did not go as planned.  One Christmas I came home to spend time with family and on vacation from my big-girl job in Waco, TX.  On Christmas night of 2005, my life changed.  I ran into an old friend from high school, Chris.  He had an amazing job at a HUGE company here in San Antonio called USAA.  He was doing really well climbing that ladder, but he was most enthusiastic about his business that he started and I remember him stating that soon he would be his own boss.  Wow.. what a go getter!  I had no idea what this business was, but as many relationships start, I was just enamored by every aspect of him.  It had been 9 years since I had seen Chris again and I wanted to know it all.  Very quickly, we fell in love.  A deep, soul-mate kind of love and as the story goes that very same Christmas night I wrote my number on his business card (which I had NEVER done) AND told him I loved him on the card.  Ahhhh….. makes me smile, even 5 years later.
Soon, I was coming home to San Antonio to visit him frequently and he was urging me to go to the weekly presentations so I could see what he really did.  I remember being over-whelmed by all of the people, most of which were in love with Chris and the amazing man he was.  They were all so nice and happy, both of which seemed strange because in corporate America, you don’t find nice AND happy people! The information seemed great, but I was more concerned with spending time with this incredible man who seemed to dig me too!  I wasn’t very educated on Network Marketing or the abilities that it gave normal everyday people, even though I did have a quick venture with Mary Kay in college.  I honestly just signed up for the discount on make-up πŸ™‚
I ended up moving home because the thought of being so far from him was killing us both, and 10 months after starting this business he left USAA behind.  I didn’t understand it then, this USANA business that was changing our lives and still pinch myself now thinking of our journey.  A few years later, I was able to leave my corporate job and this Spring will be three years since I have been FREE!  It’s amazing the amount of people we have met that we have been able to help.  That honestly, is the most rewarding part.  Some with their health because are products are so revolutionary, some with the monetary benefits from sharing the information, and a huge part of this business is personal growth.  I have come to find that most jobs/businesses don’t have their employees focus on themselves and that is where the true potential lies.  By reading a book or listening to an audio, it’s amazing how every part of your being can change.  Another benefit is the bonus of the “family” that USANA provides.  Everyone involved is happy, positive and enthusiastic.  It is so refreshing to be around so many amazing people every week!
In conclusion, my path of finding Network Marketing and this phenomenal business isn’t like most peoples.  Nor was it something that I was looking for or “needed” at the time.  Our business is truly a Blessing from God and I am so very grateful for it.  But, I fell in love with the man first
and now I have whole-heartily fallen in love with our business.
